Volunteer Now

A BBC Radio Ulster Appeal on behalf of Volunteer Now

Volunteer Now provide thousands of volunteering opportunities across Northern Ireland, with something to suit everyone.

The charity is currently recruiting volunteers for their Befriending and Driving Schemes. These schemes provide important and much-needed support to older people in the greater Belfast area. The Befriending involves visiting an older person in their home – providing them with a friendly face, a chat and a little bit of companionship. The Driving Scheme involves a team of volunteer drivers who provide lifts for older people, helping them to attend medical appointments for day care facilities. Volunteer Drivers use their own cars to collect the person, take them to appointments and bring them back home again.
