A BBC Radio Ulster Appeal on behalf of CARED

CARED provides support and advice to parents and carers who have a loved one suffering from an eating disorder.

Eating disorders can be a secretive illness and those affected can’t always see its impact on them, or their families.  Family mealtimes can become a battlefield of emotions; and everyone can get very stressed.

The New Maudsley Hospital in London has done some pioneering work on eating disorders. This has included the development of a specially designed course – the New Maudsley workshop. It provides parents with the confidence and skills to play their part in helping their loved one deal with this illness. CARED'sambition is to make this course more widely available to local families in need of help
