Bassetts and JP Corry raise £51,824 for Barnardo's NI

Local companies Bassetts, the leading plumbing, heating and bathrooms merchant and JP Corry, the complete building supplier have presented a cheque to children’s charity Barnardo’s NI for £51,824.00.

Barnardo’s was the companies chosen charity partner for the last two years, as part of parent company Saint-Gobain’s ‘together’ charity programme, which involved employees, customers and suppliers of Saint-Gobain’s Building Distribution businesses in the UK and Ireland.

To mark the end of the partnership with Barnardo’s, charity champions Brenda Hall (Bassetts) and Michelle Jenkins (JP Corry) presented Leona McEvoy from Barnardo’s with the results of both companies combined fundraising efforts.

Saint-Gobain Building Distribution businesses in theUKandIrelanddeveloped the ‘together’ partnership in 2002.  Since then, it has worked with a number of charities including The British & Irish Heart Foundation, Cancer Research and Help the Hospices, raising £2.3 million.

Stephen Bassett, Managing Director Bassetts said: “This charity partnership with Barnardo’s has been our best yet.  Over £50,000 will go towards improving the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged children inIrelandand this total really is a testament to our staff who fully endorsed the partnership and volunteered their time and effort to raise as much money as possible.”

Ciaran McConnell, Managing Director JP Corry continued: “Our staff, customers and suppliers have engaged in a range of fundraising activities including golf days, cycle rides, a charity ball and cake bake sales as well as donating materials to project makeovers, which is just as important.  Everyone should be very proud of what they have achieved.”

JP Corry and Bassetts recently announced that their new 2014/2015 charity partners in the UK and Ireland are Macmillan Cancer Support and the Irish Cancer Society.
