Applications open for awards programme for campaigners

The application process for the SMK Campaigner Awards 2013 is open. The Awards recognise the outstanding contribution that a new generation of campaigners are making towards achieving social, environmental & economic justice here and abroad.

The application process for the SMK Campaigner Awards 2013 opened on 2nd April 2013.

Margaret McGuckin, from Belfast and co-founder of Survivors and Victims of Institutional Abuse (SAVIA), has been campaigning since 2009 to get justice for the many children- now adults- who suffered physical, sexual, mental and emotional abuse in institutions across Northern Ireland.

Margaret was the winner of the SMK Social and Economic Justice Award 2012.

The SMK Campaigner Awards recognise the outstanding contribution that a new generation of campaigners are making towards achieving social, environmental and economic justice here in the UK and abroad.

Winners of an SMK Campaigner Award will attend a special ceremony hosted by Channel 4 newscaster and SMK Patron Jon Snow.

 

The Sheila McKechnie Foundation (SMK), the UK’s only charity dedicated to connecting, informing and supporting campaigners, opened the application process for their 2013 awards scheme on 2nd April.


The SMK Campaigner Awards recognise and celebrate some of the people who, across the UK, work tirelessly on the ground taking action on issues that matter both here and abroad. The award programme helps winners to develop effective and successful campaigns through a tailored package of support.
