Application are NOW being invited under the 'Bright Start' Grant Scheme - the Northern Ireland Executive's Programme for Affordable and Integrated Childcare

The first key actions identified in this strategic framework include:

• Bright Start Wraparound Programme - 2000 affordable and integrated childcare places within the school estate.
• Bright Start Community Childcare Programme - 3000 affordable and integrated childcare places supported and created through social enterprise.
• Bright Start Rural Programme - Roll out of a social enterprise model in rural area creating, potentially, an additional 1000 school age childcare places.
• Bright Start Childcare Information - A programme of better dissemination of information.
• Bright Start Workforce Development Programme - Enhancing the skills base of the childcare workforce.

In addition, Bright Start will help childcare providers address the needs of children with a disability.
