30th April last day to get events in for Community Relations Week 2014

Entries are invited from event organisers for Community Relations Week which begins on Monday 16 June. The programme is open both to voluntary and community groups and to public sector bodies.

Since 2003 the Community Relations Council has co-ordinated Community Relations Week with events planned by a huge variety of voluntary and community groups, District Councils and other public bodies. This has become a significant showcase opportunity to publicise the positive projects and initiatives that are taking place across the community to promote a more shared society.

The Community Relations Council believes that the need to build a united community and shared society and to challenge the segregation and division around us is more relevant than ever.  Taking part in Community Relations Week is a good way to demonstrate that commitment.   In 2013 almost 200 events were staged on community relations themes including debates, discussions, exhibitions, festivals and cultural performances,. These attracted extensive media coverage.

In 2014  the theme for the Week will be Building A United Community, matching the declared government strategy for good relations. The Week will run from Monday 16 June to Sunday 22 June.  Those wishing to organise an event that could form part of the programme should complete an entry form available from the CRC website and return to JPR, who are assisting CRC in the planning of the Week, by 30 April 2014 for inclusion in the printed programme.  The programme of events will be available in May from the CRC website and will be updated.

If you wish to discuss your event with CRC contact Ray Mullan at CRC, phone 028 9022 7500 or email [email protected]

Voluntary and community groups should note that any additional costs relating to a CR Week event may be eligible for grant aid from the CR/CD small grants scheme which opens in April. (Grant application forms available from the CRC website). Enquiries about the possibility of grant support for a CR Week event should be made to Paul Jordan or project officers in the Funding and Development team.
