THE ROLE:
We are seeking to appoint a Full-Time Male Youth Worker (37 hours) to join our youth team at CFC East Belfast.
This role reflects the growth and momentum of our thriving youth community. The Youth Worker will be line managed by our Youth Pastor and will work alongside her and a dedicated volunteer team to invest in the lives of our young people and continue building a dynamic, Spirit-filled youth ministry. The role is central to building strong, intentional relationships with boys aged 10–14, creating safe and fun environments for growth, and playing a key part in the life of our wider youth community (ages 10–18).
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic discipler, a confident communicator, and a strong male role model for young people navigating life and faith. As a charismatic church, we are looking for someone who is aligns with and is supportive of our church's values and Spirit-led ethos.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about young people, loves Jesus wholeheartedly, and wants to be part of a life-giving, Spirit-filled team.
The successful candidate will play an active role across our entire youth ministry (ages 10–18), with a particular focus on building strong relationships and discipleship pathways for boys aged 10–14.
You’ll need to be energetic and fun and able to carry spiritual depth, emotional intelligence, and leadership. We serve a wonderfully diverse community, so we’re looking for someone who can build trust and connection with young people from all backgrounds—whether they’re new to faith, have grown up in church, or are still figuring out where they stand with God.
We’re seeking someone with a proven track record of at least 2 years in a significant leadership role within youth ministry—whether through employment, internship, or voluntary leadership. This could include being a paid youth worker or taking the lead role in a youth group or organisation, overseeing a team of volunteers.
A ‘NORMAL’ WEEK
- Based at CFC East Belfast.
- Be actively involved in weekly youth environments on Wednesday & Friday evenings and Sunday mornings.
- Support and take part in additional opportunities like schools ministry, youth weekends, Summer Madness/Move, and missions.
- Recruit, train, and support a growing team of volunteers.
- Help maintain and grow communication through platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and TikTok.
- Plan, prepare, and evaluate youth programmes and special events.
- Be part of the wider church team and regularly attend staff meetings and prayer times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and assist in the delivery of vibrant, life-giving programmes and outreach projects for 10-18 year olds that lead young people into a God centred life.
- Alongside the Youth Pastor, oversee the development and delivery of effective pastoral care, one to one, connect and discipleship structures with a particular emphasis on boys.
- Build positive and meaningful relationships with young people.
- Be involved in youth programmes and activities that will include Wednesday and Friday evenings, and Sundays.
- Create and deliver other programmes that could include schools work, residentials, lock-ins and mission teams.
- Help recruit, motivate and oversee a committed and enthusiastic team of volunteers.
- Assist in growing leaders and building teams to reach, disciple young people and deliver programmes.
- Create and deliver effective systems of communication of programmes and events to young people, parents and key stakeholders.
- Maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders including parents and other associated youth work providers.
- Ensure compliance with appropriate legislation that protects children and young people, Health and Safety regulations and other church policies specific to youth work.
- Undertake effective monitoring and evaluation to ensure best practice.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
PERSONAL:
- A personal Christian faith and in be full agreement with CFC’s vision and values.
- Commitment to becoming a member of CFC and actively contribute to church life.
- A heart for youth discipleship and a desire to see young people grow in faith.
- Complete an enhanced Access NI check that will include a check of the Barred List for working with children.
- A full driving licence and access to transport.
- A willingness to work evenings and weekends as part of the weekly rhythm of youth ministry.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Proven experience (2+ years) in a significant leadership role within youth ministry, either voluntary, paid, or as part of an internship.
- Confidence using digital tools and social media to engage with young people and communicate effectively.
- A good understanding of safeguarding procedures, including how to report concerns, disclosures, and allegations appropriately.
- Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent.
- Confidence in using a computer, particularly Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to relate well to boys aged 10–14, while carrying leadership, consistency, and authority.
- A team player who can also take initiative, organise events, and think creatively.
- A working knowledge of the issues that face young people in Northern Ireland and the ability to develop creative and innovative ways to address these issues.
- Experience of working within and leading a team.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
We’d love to hear from candidates who can also bring the following:
- Experience mentoring or discipling young people one-to-one or in small group settings.
- A background in sports, music, media, gaming, or another youth-relevant skill that helps build relational connection.
- A third-level qualification.
- Experience working with young people from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
- An understanding of the local youth culture.
- Experience in schools-based youth work (e.g. lunchtime drop-ins, RE classes, or assemblies), and a desire to develop positive relationships in local schools.
