Youth Support Worker - Transform Derry

Youth Initiatives NI seeks a dynamic outreach youthworker to take on the Derry Search Youth Group support worker role in Creggan for a 9 – 12 month maternity period. The support worker links with Waterside participants connected with the Lead Worker of the Transform Peace IV Project.
Youth Initiatives is a cross-community youth work organisation that aims to awaken hope, inspire initiative and mobilise young people to make a vital contribution to their community and to reconciliation in Northern Ireland through Christian faith in daily life. YI specialises in outreach youth work and builds vibrant youth communities in areas of social need.
Youth Initiatives NI partners with Youthlink NI, and Mencap to deliver “TRANSFORM” as part of the four-year SEUPB Peace IV Regional Children and Young people’s programme. In Derry, Transform partners with churches, community organisations and two youth ministries to work intensively with 20 young people per year.
Youth Initiatives seeks a Youth Worker who has excellent communication skills, familiarity with a relationship-based youth work model, ability to develop inter-community relationships and has experience of working in areas of socio-economic need. We seek a youth worker who will share in YI’s and Derry Search Youth Group’s ethos, core values and methodology. The post will be based in Search’s centre in Creggan and will participate in and lead sessions of the Derry Search Youth Group.
37.5 hours per week
Salary: £19,000 to £21,000
