The Children’s Law Centre directly supports children and young people by providing legal information and advice to those seeking assistance in clarifying their access to services; advocacy for those who lack capacity and capability to communicate with duty holders. With funding support from The National Lottery Community Fund we are now recruiting a Youth Participation and Advocacy Worker to lead on our work with Youth@CLC advisory panel, and with other groups of young people as part of our Rights Here Right Now project.

The Children’s Law Centre (CLC) directly supports children and young people by providing legal information and advice to those seeking assistance in clarifying their access to services; advocacy for those who lack capacity and capability to communicate with duty holders; challenge decisions made by duty holders that impact on children’s lives and work directly with young people through our Youth@CLC advisory panel, and with organisations and groups that work with vulnerable young people through direct outreach through youth advocacy services.

With funding support from The National Lottery Community Fund we are now recruiting a Youth Participation and Advocacy Worker to lead on our work with Youth@CLC advisory panel, and with other groups of young people as part of our Rights Here Right Now project.

Rights Here Right Now is a continuation of Youth@CLC’s work in putting together a young people’s report that was submitted to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child at the end of 2022.  Since the publication of the Committee’s Concluding Observations in June 2023 we have been promoting this work including a young people’s conference in September 2023 and other work to raise awareness of children’s rights.  The Rights Here Right Now project seeks to build on the legacy of this work by helping young people advocate for their rights and obligations as laid out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as the recommendations contained in the Concluding Observations.

Over the next three years we are keen to grow and develop our Youth@CLC advisory panel, and with them work with other groups of young people including in schools to ensure they are equipped with knowledge and understanding of their rights and understand how they can claim them.  This will also include the development of resources, including digital, to support the project going forward.

This role, which will be based at the CLC, will be part of our Operations Team working alongside Comms and Marketing, Training and Engagement and Policy and Public Affairs colleagues, and our Advice and Legal Team.

More details about the role is in the Candidate Information Pack and if you would like to apply for the role please complete the application form. For further information please visit https://childrenslawcentre.org.uk/work-with-us/
