Job Purpose:
Newhill Youth & Community Centre project works with young people aged 9 to 18 from the Upper Springfield area who may experience marginalisation. The project employs a ‘needs’ led, and outcome driven community youth work approach, which affirms the voluntary, emancipatory and democratic nature of the relationship between youth worker and young person. The youth team works for the social inclusion of marginalised young people from the Upper Springfield area by supporting and enhancing their rights, participation, education, health and well-being.
The successful candidates will play a lead role in engaging and supporting the development of young people and enhancing their social inclusion in a range of youth work settings including; outreach & detached work, centre based, weekend ‘drop in’, personal development programmes, homework club and 1 to 1 mentoring. The successful candidates will be responsible for meeting the needs of young people using a full range of youth work methods. We are seeking highly motivated youth support workers/ youth workers with a commitment to young people and social justice and to improving their own professional standards. The successful candidates will have to be able to demonstrate their ability to plan, design, deliver and evaluate needs led youth work programmes which have clear and positive outcomes for young people.
