The role of the youth engagement leader will be to deliver and lead on summer activity club for members of Helping Hands. This will include working directly with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Summer Temporary Contract Self Employed: 

Hours of Work:

Week Commencing 22nd July 2024 - Mon- Thurs 10.30am -3pm

Week Commencing 29th July 2024 - Mon - Thurs 10.30am -3pm

Week Commencing 5th August 2024 - Mon - Thurs 10.30am -3pm

 

Essential Criteria:

OCN Level 3 in Youth work or equivalent OR

NVQ Level 3 in Child Development or equivalent

Safeguarding training gained within the last 3 years

At least 1 years experience in leading a session for children or young people

At least 1 years experience working with group of children in school or youth placement.

Age 18 years old plus.

 

Desirable Criteria:

Experience in dealing with children or young people with special needs

Autism Awareness Trained

First Aid trained

Knowledge of Data Protection

Good communication skills

Good time management skills

Good administration skills

Have a fun and engaging attitude

Work as part of busy team and be a team player

Be able to manage challenging behaviours should they arise

 

Main purpose of Job:

The role of the youth engagement leader will be to deliver and lead on summer activity club for members of Helping Hands.   This will include working directly with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

 

As part of this role you will

  • Develop weekly activities for 4 daily sessions over 3 weeks summer period.
  • Develop a programme of activities (age specific) that will support children and young people with ASD difficulties ie:  Sensory activities, Life skills, Social communication, Anxiety etc.
  • Co-ordinate volunteers to ensure ratio is provided at the correct level for the children and young people involved.
  • Liaise and communicate with parents confidentially when needed
  • Update social media activity club members page on a weekly basis
  • Adhere to Helping Hands policies
  • To provide accurate monitoring information for funders
  • Attend training prior to summer activities commencing provided by Helping Hands.
  • Set up, spot clean and clear down the Autism Resource Centre at the end of the day with support from other staff or volunteers.
