KIT volunteers play a key role in keeping someone who's living with dementia connected. By taking a personal, warm and engaging approach to their role, our KIT volunteers provide a friendly, tailored proactive support service.

What will I be doing?

- You will make 'Keeping in Touch' calls to people.  These calls follow up with people in their dementia journey (approx. 6 months after initial contact). The calls check in, ensure that people living with dementia are supported, connected and enabled.

- You will use an exciting new IT system; full training and support will be provided

- You will provide information, make referrals, signpost and enable people to access the support they need in a way that's right for them

- Provide time limited one to one intervention and support via telephone

- Provide a friendly voice, support and encouragement via telephone

- Provide safe and enjoyable phone calls via an IT system for a person living with dementia

Is this role for me?

The role may be suitable if you:

- Are passionate about supporting people with dementia to improve the quality of their lives

- You believe that people should be enabled and empowered

- You want to be part of a revolutionary new offer from the Alzheimer's Society

- You want to develop your IT skills

- If you've ever been described as 'chatty' and/or a good listener.  If you have good verbal comunication and listening skills, especially on the phone

- If you are a perceptive, emotionally intelligent person; able to read tone of voice and empathise

Where, when and how often?

We expect KIT volunteers to offer at least around 3 hours per month

What do I have to do before I can start?

- You will need to complete the paperwork and checks associated with the volunteer recruitment process e.g. references, become a Dementia Friend (online process approx 20 mins)

- Participate in agreed training and development within 6 weeks to undertake the role and get an understanding of dementia (5 hours)
