Befriending is a great opportunity to give your time and commitment in making a real difference to someone's life. Our member Don lives alone in Portavogie and is looking for a friendly volunteer who is available to make a weekly visit any day of the week to have a chat and a cup of tea.

Don has worked in a number of jobs as an electrician and a DJ to name just a few! He's a great lover of poetry and is a member of a local writing group. He enjoys getting to know people and having a chat and has a real passion for music especially early 80s and watching science documentaries on TV.

Ideally, you will be a driver with your own transport, with a genuine interest in other people. A good listener available to make a regular weekly visit.

Do you need experience or specialist skills?

No - simply a genuine desire to help and some spare time on a regular weekly basis. We will ensure you are supported throughout your journey with us, offering training and support at all times. We will also reimburse out of pocket expenses to you and pay for your Access NI check.
