
To assist the Shop Manager with co-ordinating the collection and delivery of stock from donors and customers and between shops. This post will mainly cover Antrim and Larne but there will also be travel to Newtownards and Belfast.
Specific Duties:
- To plan and implement the collection and delivery of stock from donors and customers, and ensure the plan is deliverable and achievable within designated working hours.
- Determine if goods to be collected from donors’ homes meet EBM’s standards for resale
- To place donations of stock on the sales floor under the guidelines issued
- Keep and update daily/weekly records as required.
- To be responsible for the maintenance and security of East Belfast Mission’s vehicle, including refuelling, cleanliness and the recording and reporting of maintenance needs.
- To keep a full and comprehensive log of all van activities and fuel consumption.
- Under instruction from the Shop Manager transport items for disposal.
- To drive the van in a safe and responsible manner.
- To be flexible in working arrangements, as evenings and Saturday work will be an expected part of the working week and that all areas of Belfast and beyond will be covered.
- Undertake other reasonable tasks as required, including deliveries for other departments.
- Adhere to EBM Health and Safety policies (including no smoking policy)
This position gives the post holder access to vulnerable adults and will therefore be required to disclose details of any criminal convictions, including spent, bind-over orders and cautions in accordance with the Access NI Vetting and Baring Scheme and our organisation’s Protection of Vulnerable Adults Policy and Procedure. An AccessNI check will be carried out, and in applying for this position, you are in agreement for the organisation to carry out this necessary check.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Clean driving record and driving licence which includes Category C1
- Experience in sales and customer services
- Numerate and literate
- Reliable timekeeper
- Ability to maintain records as detailed above
- No health problems that would adversely affect the ability to carry out duties (manual handling required)
- Organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills
Desirable
- Proven ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work with key stakeholders
- An understanding of the statutory requirements for second-hand trading
- Background in a charity environment
