Trustee Of The Rainbow Project

The Rainbow Project

The Rainbow Project is seeking to recruit members to our Board of Trustees from across Northern Ireland committed to our our vision “of a society free from homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and heterosexism; where all people are recognised as equals”.

The Rainbow Project was founded in 1994 in response to the HIV and Aids epidemic. Since then the organisation has developed into a leading LGBTQIA+ organisation working across Northern Ireland. We provide support services to mitigate the impacts of inequality while working to deliver full social and legal equality for LGBTQIA+ people.

We are particularly interested applications from:

  • Trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people;
  • Black and minority ethnic people; and
  • Younger people

We are also interested in applicants with expertise in but not limited to the following areas:

  • Charitable governance and risk;
  • Sexual health;
  • Mental health;
  • Movement building

On average, Trustees should be prepared to commit around 8 hours of their time per quarter to the role. The time commitment for a member of the Board of Trustees includes attendance at Board of Trustees meeting once per quarter, which is usually held on a Saturday morning for 3 hrs.

In addition to the main Board, Trustees will normally sit on one sub-committee, either the Governance & Assurance Sub-Committee or the Strategy, Sustainability and Fundraising Sub-Committee, sub-committee meetings last around 2 hrs per quarter and are normally remote on a Tuesday or Thursday evening.

Please submit your completed application form by e-mail to [email protected] or by post to Recruitment, The Rainbow Project, Belfast LGBT Centre, 23-31 Waring Street, Belfast, BT1 2DX before Monday 13th May at 10am.
