Senior Volunteer Coordinator
Salary: £23,500 per annum, pro rata
Location: Ballymena
Contract/Hours: Permanent, Part-Time (working 22.5 hours a week) – ideally spread across 3 days

A bit about the role
Join our Ballymena and Little Steps Sure Start Service as a Senior Volunteer Coordinator. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for coordinating the safer recruitment, induction, training and supervision of our dedicated volunteers. By consulting with children, young people, and families, you will help develop meaningful volunteer roles that truly make a difference.
We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in supervising volunteers and a strong background in partnership working with organisations within the locality. You will ensure that our volunteers are well equipped to carry out their roles competently and confidently through the delivery of volunteer led programmes that achieve positive outcomes for children, aligning with our organisational business plan, aims, objectives and contract requirements.
You will need excellent organisational skills, a passion for community engagement and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all volunteers if you have the drive to lead and inspire, we would like to hear from you.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
- Recruiting inspiring volunteers who can support children being heard and act as positive role models to children in care.
- Coordinating ongoing support and training for volunteers.
- Supervising volunteers providing front-line delivery of services.
- Demonstrating the benefits of the service to social work teams and commissioners and facilitating ongoing referrals.
- Publicising and promoting volunteering opportunities with individuals, community groups, professionals and other relevant agencies.
- Offering advice and information to potential volunteers and external organisations through face-to-face, telephone and email contact.
Let's talk about you
Ideally you will have:
- Minimum level 3 standards for example: BTech, NVQ L3, A Level in health and social care, or early years.
- The ability to liaise with wide range of individuals (Social Workers, Young People, Commissioners)
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- A positive and proactive approach.
- Good IT skills.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding.
- Previous experience of working with, and training volunteers, is desirable.
- Access to a car. The role requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the role, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.
