Voluntary position
We are looking for volunteers to join our team and assist with habitat management as part of our Curlew nest protection work in the Antrim hills. This role is all about taking on a few tasks as part of an existing team that supports the RSPB’s operations.

By delivering this vital role you will be helping to establish a healthy and thriving population of curlew in some of the most beautiful areas of Northern Ireland.

Full training and support will be provided for the tasks you are undertaking but in general, we are looking for people with the following skills and experience:

  • Motivated to use your skills and expertise to Save Nature.

  • Applicant should have a reasonable level of fitness - physically demanding role, carrying heavy equipment over rough terrain.

  • Enthusiasm for working outdoors.

  • Time sensitive role would require the ability to prioritise tasks to be available at very short notice.

  • Experience using strimmers/brushcutter would be beneficial.

  • Access to own car and full driving licence.

This is a highly rewarding role and offers a chance to make a positive impact. You will be making a genuine contribution to nature conservation, so if that is your motivation, you'll find satisfaction in this role. This role provides an excellent opportunity to donate your time and skills to have real impact on our work. You will learn all about how the RSPB works and gain experience working for an environmental charity. We like to think we're a friendly and welcoming team, so you'll have the opportunity to make new friends too
