Regional Fundraising Volunteer Manager - Scotland & Northern Ireland
Macmillan Cancer Support
You will lead on developing and implementing the regional volunteering plan to increase fundraising income for people living with cancer.
Volunteers are at the heart of everything Macmillan does. They help our charity raise funds and awareness across the UK to ensure people living with cancer find their best way through. Responsible for recruiting and developing volunteers in a range of roles, you will build and manage a team of volunteers to support our growing challenge events programme, as well as supporting our network of fundraising groups, collectors, and speakers.
You will be responsible for supporting some of the most iconic events in Macmillan's calendar, including the Edinburgh Marathon, Great Scottish Run, Belfast Marathon, Edinburgh Art Show, Etape Loch Ness and one extremely popular Rob Roy Mighty Hike.
For hundreds of volunteers in the region you will be the face of Macmillan. You will build effective relationships with committed volunteers, and forge productive links with key stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure a joined-up approach to volunteering.
Your volunteer management experience means you’re passionate about the importance of delivering a consistent and unrivalled volunteer experience. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills will allow you to engage with supporters and volunteers from all backgrounds, understanding and responding to their different motivations.
You’ll use data and insight to help identify the best opportunities, focussing on those which have the biggest impact, and report back on the results to show the power of volunteering.
A diverse and forward-thinking charity, Macmillan has one of the largest and most successful fundraising teams in the sector, but with the challenge of supporting the four million people living with cancer by 2030, it’s essential we further that success and meet challenging fundraising targets to expand our vital work.
Whether your experience has been gained in the charity or corporate sector, you will readily demonstrate your knowledge and experience of volunteering, fundraising, sales and marketing.
You’ll have strong communication, organisational and time management skills as well as the ability to model good practice using our Macmillan Volunteering Quality Standards. Though not essential, personal experience of volunteering would be beneficial.
In return for your own commitment, we commit to actively developing you, and our benefits include private medical insurance, life assurance, pension, childcare vouchers, generous leave, and interest free loans for season ticket and gym membership.
A driving licence is essential as there will be travel required across the Region. As part of a UK-wide team there will be regular travel to central London and other parts of the UK that might require an overnight stay. The role also requires some attendance at evening and weekend events.
