Location: Hybrid between home and offices across the Devolved Nations
Salary range: £43,590 - £48,327 per annum
Hours: 35 per week (typically working Monday to Friday)

Could you play a significant role in our national management team for policy, research and advocacy? We have a unique opportunity for a Public Affairs and Policy Manager to design and deliver an influencing strategy across the Devolved Nations. In this central role you’ll lead public affairs and effective advocacy in Northern Ireland and Wales while line manging an Officer in Scotland. You will build and maintain relationships on our UK wide policy priorities in the Devolved Nations.
What will a Public Affairs and Policy Manager’s role involve?
- Design and deliver influencing strategies to build profile, relationships and awareness (as well as support) for our policy calls. Ensuring these are tailored to each country’s social and political context.
- Ensure our UK-wide policy, research and advocacy strategy is informed by devolved country influencing opportunities.
- Monitoring and analysing political trends, activity and policy related to the key advocacy priorities and report back to the organisations on impact and suggested response.
- Working closely with colleagues in the Policy, research and advocacy team. You'll ensure our priorities, evidence base and policy calls are UK-wide and lead on tailoring this work in the devolved nations.
- Being an external representative in government and parliamentary meetings, building and maintaining senior stakeholder relationships, both in person (across the devolved nations) and virtually.
What will a Public Affairs and Policy Manager (Devolved Nations) need to be successful?
- Experience of managing people and projects. You've got great interpersonal and communication skills and you're able to motivate, inspire and lead.
- Significant experience of roles within in public/social policy, advocacy or similar in Northern Ireland and ideally in Scotland, Wales and Westminster.
- Demonstrable understanding of evidence-based public policy making.
- Demonstrable understanding of how to deploy evidence and research to support policy advocacy.
- Proven and demonstrable verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex policy ideas into a persuasive format for a variety of audiences.
- Comfortable working in a pressured and busy environment. You can prioritise a range of competing demands. You can successfully manage several concurrent projects, completing them to a high level of quality.
- You work well with others. Experience of building impactful relationships with internal and external stakeholders and decision-makers.
