Action Ability Belfast aims to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities into the local community and support the development of their natural abilities.

Summary of Post

This post is funded through Belfast Health and Social Service.  Its main aim is to develop and maintain services and programmes which enable people with disabilities to participate in community life. This includes reducing isolation and improving health and well being for all family members.  The post holder will identify new opportunities and engage with a wide range of stakeholders to identify people with disabilities who need services.

Main Responsibilities

1. To support social and leisure activities for groups of people with disabilities by enabling people to participate in a broad range of activities in community settings.
2. To setup and run a range of groups in line with the interests of individuals.
3. Providing opportunities which enable people to become active and valued members of their communities.
4. Promote independence, support improvements in self-esteem and confidence, through enabling activities.
5. Offer a direct point of contact for people with disabilities and advocate on their behalf to enable them to access other support services and opportunities for social inclusion.
