Job Title: Project Officer (Ignite Community Programme)

Full Time 37 1/2 hours per week

Fixed Term for 4 Years

Salary:  £28,275 (incremental review each year)

Location: Arts Care Office Hub, Connswater Shopping Centre, Bloomfield Avenue, Belfast.

Reports to: CEO/Artistic Director

Responsible for: Ignite Project Artists x 3

ROLE OVERVIEW & BACKGROUND

Arts Care is Northern Ireland’s leading Arts in Health organisation. We deliver a wide range of participatory and commissioned arts programmes to people of all ages in Health and Social Care and Community settings across Northern Ireland. Arts Care’s mission is to improve personal health and wellbeing through participation in the Arts.

The post holder will be responsible for delivery of Arts Care’s contribution to the Ignite Community Programme, a four-year social innovation programme supported by PEACEPLUS, and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). Arts Care are part of a Consortium of organisations led by Young Social Innovators (YSI). The purpose of this innovative programme is enabling young people outside the main education system to drive and own innovations that will make a real difference in tackling inequality and creating new connections across communities in Northern Ireland and the Border Counties of Ireland. These new connections will deepen links through the development of cross-border and cross-community relations within groups of young people from diverse backgrounds and communities co-creating solutions to social and environmental issues that impact upon them and their communities. We will use social innovation as the linchpin to empower communities of young people to co-design and launch new and innovative solutions, and Art will be one of the platforms for this.

 

 

Main responsibilities of the Project Officer are as follows:

  • Organisation and coordination of all aspects of the arts programming, workshops, exhibitions, and performance showcases for young people under the Ignite Community Programme
  • To liaise with key stakeholders, and Ignite consortia members to recruit for, plan and deliver a series of art programmes to young people  
  • Recruit, induct and manage the 3 x Arts Care Project Artists and supervise freelance Artists commissioned under the Project
  • Work with the Arts & Business Support Team and Finance to implement business processes for the Ignite Community Programme under the new CRM system
  • Documenting, monitoring, budgeting and evaluating the project and contributing to organisational monitoring and funder returns
  • Work closely with Arts Care Head of Communications and the lead Project partner YSI regarding PR and marketing of the Programme
  • Contribute to the achievement of the objectives of Arts Care Strategic and Business Plans as a member of the Arts Care Strategic Management Team.

Essential Criteria:

 

1.       (a) Third level qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject 

          (b) A minimum of 2 years’ experience involved in the co-ordination,

          administration and delivery of projects.

2.  Evidence of the ability to closely liaise with and organise a diverse group of stakeholders including artists, service users, funders and other commissioning organisation/agencies. 

3. Evidence of the ability to communicate effectively and work as a member of a team.

4. Evidence of good organisational skills, the ability to work unsupervised and under pressure.

5. Evidence of experience in the use of IT systems including the Internet, Email, Databases, Power-point Presentation, Spreadsheets (Excel) and word processing.

6. Evidence of experience in effectively managing a budget.

7. Hold a current driving licence and have access to a car to fulfil the duties of the post.

8. Evidence and examples of your ability to manage a team.

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working in an Arts environment e.g. events planning, performances, showcases and exhibitions.
  • Experience of working with young people

In the event of a large quantity of candidates, Arts Care will utilise desirable criteria for shortlisting.
