This role involves planning events for teenagers of all abilities, ensuring those with complex disabilities are able to take part, make friends and have fun.

Aim: To plan events for young people of all abilities, ensuring those with complex disabilities are able to take part. To effectively lead the volunteers and personal care staff at events. To ensure that events run smoothly, staff and volunteers are briefed, that risk management plan is followed, high quality outcome monitoring and reporting is completed and that any issues are reported and dealt with accordingly. 

This is a five year post, based in our office in Larne.

Roles and responsibilities:

Execution of events; both virtually and in various locations.

Liaising with facilitators.

Liaising with families, members and preparing care plans for participants.

Leading and co-ordinating volunteers and staff.

Implementing Mae Murray Foundation procedures.

Risk assessing a venue, activity or event- training will be provided. Implementing risk management plan.

Dealing with requests for particular needs. Completing care plans for members.

Designated Officer, ensuring in the event of a safeguarding incident taking place, the correct procedure is carried out as per our policies and procedures. – training will be provided.

Leading Team Briefing at each event.

Overseeing co-ordination of event outcome monitoring reporting.

Essential Criteria

  • Ambitious, self-motivated person  
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Experience in leading a small team
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Continuous access to a car with full license
  • Child Protection and safeguarding training/experience
  • Must be available for weekend and night work (all events take place outside of school hours)
  • Ability to build strong relationships with facilitators and participants
  • Excellent verbal, written, numeric and presentation skills
  • Third level qualification or 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Experience of and working understanding of differing abilities
  • Must have a positive demeanour and be able to recognise others to be of equal and inseparable value, regardless or physical or learning ability
  • Experience in implementing risk management plan and completing risk assessments
  • Experience of working with people of differing abilities

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working in the third sector
  • Excellent interaction skills when working with people of mixed age & ability
  • Disability awareness training
  • Designated Officer training
  • First aid qualification
  • Experience of managing people within the voluntary sector
  • Outcome Monitoring / Impact training
