We are seeking an enthusiastic Project Assistant to support the delivery of the Acorn Farm 'I Can Grow' programme.

We are seeking a enthusiastic Project Assistant to support the delivery of the Acorn Farm 'I Can Grow' programme. This initiative empowers families across the Derry City & Strabane District Council area to grow their own food at home, encouraging healthier food choices while promoting environmental awareness.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the programme by assisting in the growth and distribution of vegetable plants and other growing materials to households across the area.

The role involves assisting with the propagation, planting, and care of vegetable plants. It also includes preparing and delivering planters and compost to up to 200 households across the Derry City & Strabane District Council area. The Project Assistant will be responsible for loading and unloading materials, including bags of compost and planting equipment, while ensuring safe handling practices. Practical support to programme participants will be provided, including sharing knowledge and skills related to horticulture and sustainable food-growing practices. The role requires maintaining accurate records of deliveries and programme activities and working collaboratively with the project team to support the overall success of the programme.

Applicants should have experience in practical horticulture and vegetable growing. A positive attitude and willingness to engage with families and households in the community are essential.

Knowledge of sustainable food-growing practices and previous experience in community-based projects or similar initiatives would be beneficial.
