Placement Opportunity for Volunteer Counsellors & Psychotherapists
Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB NI)
The Sight Loss Counselling Team at RNIB are an established team of counsellors. Accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, our service offers free and confidential counselling to people who are experiencing psychological and emotional difficulties because of sight loss.
We’re looking to expand our small team of volunteer telephone counsellors to help us support more blind and partially-sighted people. In return we offer training, regular fortnightly supervision and the opportunity to gain valuable experience.
Applicants should EITHER be qualified counsellors / psychotherapists who have completed a BACP/ IACP accredited or equivalent course OR students in the final stages of their training.
Based in our Belfast office, you will work from an approach that integrates Humanistic principles and be willing to provide three telephone counselling sessions per week (Mon to Fri 9.30am to 4.30pm) for a minimum of one year as well as attend regular fortnightly supervision on Monday afternoons (2.00pm to 4.00pm).
Need to Talk is a five year project (2017-2021) delivered through a partnership between RNIB NI and Scotland, and Fighting Blindness in the Republic of Ireland. The project is supported European Union’s INTERREG VA Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)
