This is a flexible, bank staff role is for those with experience in supporting disabled people. The aim is to help our members to take part by facilitating any assistance they may need.

Hours Required: As required. This role is flexible. We have several events per month and many more events in the summer months. As events are planned, we email dates, times, and locations to our Personal Care Assistant. Personal Care Assistants then confirm their availability for upcoming event dates.

Main Roles:

Aid with event outcome monitoring/ providing feedback.

Attend team briefing before each event – this will be before participants arrive and at the location of the event and to Attend debrief after events.

Help with event setup.

Help young people with feeding, toileting, and changing (if applicable).

Aid to facilitate participation (includes pushing chairs, prompting young people to get involved, taking part yourself, and encouraging participants who may be shy to get involved)

Provide safe and positive support in all aspects of care, ensuring physical, emotional,    and social needs are met.

Implementing risk assessment and hygiene measures as directed by the Team Leader during the team briefing.

 

Essential Criteria

• Able to work on own initiative

• Access to own transport

• Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and participants

• Experience of and working understanding of differing abilities

• Positive demeanor and be able to recognize others to be of equal and inseparable

value, regardless of physical or learning ability

• Work well as part of a team

 

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working in the third sector

• Child Protection and Safeguarding training/experience (we will provide further

training if required)

• Experience in personal care, lifting and handling, and/or communication support

(further training will be provided if required)

• Experience of working with people of differing abilities

• Excellent interaction skills when working with people of mixed age & ability

• Disability awareness training

• First aid qualification

• Lifting and handling training

• Experience or training in Outcome-based Monitoring / Impact Reporting

• Health & Safety Awareness Training

• Experience in different feeding methods

• Experience in administering medication
