
Come help at our BCM Parent Support Baby Morning Group Newtownards. This is a time when a number of young mothers/fathers come with their children to socialise, reduce isolation, share experiences and participate in specifically tailored programmes to meet their needs. This groups runs fortnightly in Regent Street Methodist Church, 11 am - 2pm.
Key Responsibilities:
The following is a range of duties shared by the team at the Parent Support Baby Morning Group.
- Assisting at the Parent Support Group.
- Facilitate Service Users to and from group, where appropriate.
- Ensuring careful supervision at all times.
- Report any incidents immediately to Parent Support Worker.
- To attend mandatory and role specific training.
- Assist with preparation and serving of meal.
- Assist with setting up and cleaning of room.
- Assist with preparation and delivery of group.
- Ensure safety of children at all times.

Skills and Qualities that will help you fulfil the role:
- Ability to work well in a volunteer team.
- Ability to engage with the parents and children and make them feel welcome. Be sensitive and caring. Enjoy working with children and young people.
- Ability to follow good practice to safeguard children and young adults at risk.
- Awareness of basic health and safety to keep oneself and others safe.
- Basic command of English language so you can communicate with other volunteers and parents.
- Non-judgemental support and encouragement. An ability not to impose your own values and beliefs on others.
- Be reliable and have a responsible attitude.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Training, Support and other Requirements:
- Mandatory: Safeguarding
- Mandatory: Access NI Check (provided free)
- Any other training identified as required to fulfil the role.
- To engage in regular one to one and/or group support and supervision sessions with the nominated support person.
- To support the aims and values of BCM
- To respect the service user’s privacy and confidentiality at all times.
