Holywood Family Trust has a well established Youth Provision and through the National Lottery funding we are recruiting an experienced Youth Worker to Co-ordinate and lead our new OUR Project.
The contract term is up to 31st March 2028
The project will involve working with young people between the ages of 16-25 years from the Holywood and surrounding area.
The purpose of the project is to develop increased opportunities for development for young people within areas they have identified. The co-ordinator role will be responsible for the overall implementation and successful delivery of the project, working in partnership with young people and managing the OUR Project other staff member.
The OUR Project Co-ordinator will facilitate the outworking of three strands of the Project:
- OUR training: providing young people with access to high-quality leadership training opportunities in areas including leadership, facilitation, and working with marginalised groups. Where possible, training will be accredited. Participants will be provided with monthly 1-on-1 mentoring sessions, focused on their leadership development.
- OUR community: young people will be supported to deliver and lead community-based events. Developed by the young-people, based on local needs they identify and linking with existing local events.
- OUR volunteering: young-people will be given opportunities to take on volunteer leadership roles.
The Role Responsibilities will include:
- Designing and writing youth work programmes and workshops, based on the needs of young people.
- Oversee and deliver a one-to-one mentoring programme for programme participants.
- Plan and deliver over-night residential opportunities for young people.
- Motivate and support young people to play an active role in the project, within our models of youth participation.
- Manage project budgets effectively, including budget setting and record keeping.
- Work with (young adult) volunteers including recruiting, inducting, and supporting their involvement and maximising their potential.
- Understand youth work policy in NI and other relevant policies and strategies that impact upon youth work and young people.
- Coordinate community events alongside young people, which are based on community needs and the interests of young people.
- Implement HFT’s Child Protection Policy and work with the young people to safeguard their welfare and the welfare of others.

The Essential Training/Qualifications needed to apply include:
- 3rd Level qualification in youth work or relevant field of study (applicants will need to clearly demonstrate the relevance of a qualification outside of youth work).
- 3+ years experience of working with young people in youth settings, between the ages of 16 – 25 years old, and developing medium-long term relationships with them.
