Job Title: Occupational Therapist (OT) (ESF STRIDE Project) 

Location: Based at our Belfast or Ballymena offices, but with travel across N Ireland 

Contract: Fixed Term until 31st March 2022 

Responsible To: ESF Project Manager 

Objective: Our European Social Fund project STRIDE helps unemployed people living with a disability find and sustain paid work. Our project team work with participants across Northern Ireland to improve their employability through mentoring, skills development and advocacy. We have decided to add an Occupational Therapist (OT) to the project team. The addition of an OT to the team will ensure a holistic service to our STRIDE project participants. 


Job Description: 

- Conduct assessments and evaluations of participants to determine their condition, limitations, medical histories and personal goals 
- To provide practical support to help STRIDE project participants with mental, physical, social or learning disabilities, to independently carry out everyday tasks or occupations with more confidence and independence. 
- To engage with potential and existing employers of participants to advise on work place adaptations, reasonable adjustments and in-work support requirement. 
- Communicate with Employment Services Officers, Employers and other relevant stakeholders to confirm plans of care 
- To provide disability awareness to both employer’s staff and other relevant stakeholders. 
- Provide occupational therapy guidance, support and education during participant support sessions 
- Generate reports for participants and other relevant stakeholder 
- Keep accurate records in USEL’s CRM system. 
- To adhere to project quality standards. 
- Any other reasonable requests from supervisor/manager. 


Person Specification: 
Essential: 
- First or upper second-class honours degree or postgraduate qualification in Occupational Therapy. 
- Professional Registration or eligible for registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). 
- Hold membership of or eligible to apply for membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. 
- Practice placement experience relevant to this post. 
- Evidence of ability to apply current knowledge and expertise in the practice and delivery of occupational therapy services to the client groups within USEL 
- Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills 
- Evidence of effective teamwork in professional and inter-professional relationships. 
- Evidence of ability to work independently. 
- Computer Literate, in particular Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, and Outlook etc.) 
- Driving licence and access to a car (if the effects of a disability preclude an individual from holding a driving licence then they should indicate how they could meet the mobility requirements of the post). 


Desirable: 
- Some clinical experience in a specialist area relevant to this post. 
- Involvement in professional networks at regional, national or international level.
