Working hours: 35 hours per week

Within Thorndale Family Centre, there are 2 services – A Resettlement Service (Lifehouse) for homeless families, and a specialist Parenting Assessment Service.  The Night Support Worker will provide support across both these services.

The Resettlement Service (Lifehouse) provides support for families and individuals who are experiencing homelessness and have multiple and complex needs. Our role is to provide a safe psychologically informed environment to stay and support families and individuals through a Harm Reduction approach, based on trauma informed practice. Support will be given to address individual needs, enabling clients to achieve positive life changes and ultimately empower them to lead a more sustainable lifestyle

The Parenting Service supports children and families who face significant challenges in life, often as a result of adversity and trauma.  Within this residential service (placements for 3 families), we offer a broad range of supports and assessments delivered through a trauma-informed and relational-based approaches and interventions, we aim to strengthen families, support parents, and safeguard children.  With regular monitoring and intense support, we strive to keep families together where and when possible, or work in partnership with parents in efforts to have children rehabilitated back into their care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the delivery of support to clients with complex needs, using Harm Reduction methods and Trauma Informed Practices.
  • Play a key role in the provision of safe, supportive, enabling and nurturing environments along with targeted supports and interventions, to improve family relationships, develop parenting skills and knowledge, and enhance outcomes for children.
  • Liaising with partner agencies to provide support and advocacy.
  • Work with clients through person-centred support planning and enabling access to a range of meaningful activities.
  • Work with clients as part of a Support Team to ensure the needs and actions within person centred plans are addressed in a professional manner.

  • Motivation towards supporting.  Families and individuals to achieve focussed and positive life outcomes.
  • The ability to form supportive and motivating relationships.
  • Able to work within the ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • Hold a NISCC Registration.
