BBC Children in Need are currently looking for a National Support Assistant, within the Northern Ireland team, based in Belfast, for a permanent, part-time contract. Please note that interviews will take place on Thursday 28th March 2019.

Our refreshed objectives and activities will ensure the impact we have on children’s lives is front and centre of the work the charity undertakes over and above the projects and services we fund. Our focus is on finding and funding the inspiring ideas that change children’s lives.

Main Responsibilities

This is an exciting and varied role that will give you exposure to a number of projects and stakeholders across BBC Children in Need. As a National Support Assistant, you will provide strong administrative support ensuring that the work of the team is carried out efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Helping co-ordinate the smooth running of administrative aspects of the teams work. This will include coordinating grant committee meetings, ensuring that accurate records of meetings and grant recommendations are made and kept, and coordination work with our freelance assessors and the Regional Advisory Committee.
  • Advising on grant enquiries from grant applicants and provide appropriate feedback to unsuccessful applicants. You will ensure that grants are reported on in a timely manner and support grant administration in the team in addition to extracting and maintaining data on the grants database.
  • Participating in various activities across the region in the run-up to the Children in Need Appeal, liaising with fundraisers, the local voluntary sector and other key stakeholders throughout the BBC and beyond.

Are you the right candidate?

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience of administrative office-based work, have experience of prioritising a busy and diverse workload, and of effectively communicating with a wide range of people.

It is desirable but not essential that you have paid or unpaid experience of working in the charitable, grant making and/or children and young people sectors.
