Workforce is currently seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and Health and Well Being Tutor who will be part of the Care and Welfare Team.

Location

The post-holder will be based at Workforce Training Services, 88/120 Springfield Road Belfast. The duties will require the post-holder to travel to other site offices to meet the needs of the organisation.

The Pastoral Care Manager and General Manager 

Hours of Duty

Monday – Friday: 38 hrs per week – (The nature of this role may include other occasional evening and weekend duty for which time off in lieu will be allowed at senior management’s discretion).

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with students individually and in a group to help overcome personal barriers to learning.
  • Provide structure to support the safety and well-being of students, promoting strategies for independent learning and self-management.  
  • Engaging in project work to promote positive attitudes and behaviour in respect of mental health, providing a range of health promotion events.
  • Educate on the impact of drugs and alcohol on mental illness and personality disorders, and liaise with statutory/ voluntary sector professionals, helping students engage with appropriate support networks.
  • To develop illness prevention and intervention signposting for students exhibiting deliberate self-harm and suicidal behaviour. 
  • Provide pastoral care for participants providing impartial Information, advice and guidance supporting students in identifying a clear pathway into further education, training or employment. 
  • Coordinate home visits and parent/guardian meetings for the purpose of gaining information and/or discussing needs and problems involving participants and their families. 
  • Plan and monitor evidence-based health and wellbeing projects across the organisation. This will include working with operational partners to ensure projects are delivered successfully and evaluation undertaken. 
  • Deliver health and wellbeing projects to improve the health and wellbeing of students. Provide support and motivation to students to change their behaviour and signpost them to support long term change. 
  • Liaise and maintain a close relationship with operational partners in the planning and delivery of health and wellbeing projects. This includes Belfast City Council departments, Youth Centres, and Community Groups etc.
  • Attend events across Belfast to promote health and wellbeing to members of the public.
  • Ensure monitoring and evaluation is undertaken in all projects delivered and is appropriately recorded and reported. 
  • Complete and retain accurate records to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • To liaise with other staff as required by the needs of the students.
  • Any other duties as required by the Pastoral Care Manager /General Manager.

Training Environment

  • Ensure that safe working practices, security awareness and housekeeping are maintained at all time.
  • To implement a Health and Safety programme in accordance with appropriate legislation.
  • To report, record and assist in any investigation to accidents within the training environment.
  • To retain direct responsibility for students within the section.
  • To supervise students within other training sections as required by line management.

General 

  • To attend staff, H & S and other meetings as required by line management.
  • To provide regular reports as required by management.
  • To participate in staff development and training events as required.
  • To participate in meetings as considered appropriate by management.
  • To undertake other duties and provide oral and written reports as requested by the Management.

Special Conditions

  • The post-holder should be absent from the training area on an absolute minimum of occasions and then only on Company business and with the express approval, in advance, of Management. This does not detract from your employment rights.

Salary: £31,638.40 (reviewed annually in April).

A Christmas and Summer Discretionary Award is also paid (dependant on the organisation making a profit).

Holidays: 38 days annual leave (runs January to December).

Length of Service Awards:

1 additional day’s leave for 5 years’ service.

2 additional days’ leave for 10 years’ service.

£250 + 2 additional days’ leave for 15 years’ service.

£500 + 2 additional days’ leave for 20 years’ service.

£750 + 2 additional days’ leave for 25 years’ service.
