As the Fundraising Assistant in Charis Cancer Care you will play an important part in ensuring effective and efficient financial administration of our community fundraising activity, grant funded projects and supporting our fundraising activity.

Responsibilities

  • Using fundraising and donor databases, to update records, run reports and ensure that income is recorded accurately on donor and Gift Aid records.
  • Support the administration and effective storage of gift aid declarations, ensuring declarations and claims are in line with HMRC regulations.
  • Prepare bank lodgements when required; send thank-you letters for donations, and update donor database systems.
  • Support the management and placement of countertop collection boxes and collection buckets , this includes inputting data, banking monies, issuing receipts, working collaboratively with volunteers.
  • Support fundraisers with material distribution as required e.g. event letters, collection buckets, fundraising materials.
  • Support the coordination of fundraising activity and attend fundraising events as required.
  • Contribute to the development of financial reports and analysis for fundraising activities as required.
  • Managing donor data in line with Data Protection legislation and Charis Cancer.
  • Care policies and procedures relating to the processing and storing of data.
  • Responsible for working within agreed annual budgets.
  • Responsible for fundraising activities in line with agreed targets.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in IT, including Excel and Microsoft packages.
  • Experience with databases and office administration.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Have the ability to demonstrate initiative.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Able to manage competing demands and meet deadlines for reporting.
  • Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the role.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience working in a similar post within a fundraising department.
  • Experience of using fundraising databases.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Gift Aid legislation and guidance.
  • Previous experience in Trust or Grant funding financial administration.
  • Cash handling skills.
  • Driving licence and access to a car.

Further Information

Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Working hours will be Tues, Wed and Thurs 9.00am to 5.00pm, Fri 9.00am to 11.30am
