
As a Driver Volunteer you will support Dementia NI members by collecting and escorting to and from activities and events. This role is particularly suitable to someone with a keen interest in supporting people living with dementia.
Skills/experience required
- Friendly, positive, and approachable
- Ability to be empathetic, patient, and calm
- Good communication skills
- Committed to upholding members confidentiality
- Good time keeping and reliable
- Clean driving licence and access to a safe, well-maintained, and insured car
Tasks
- To collect members from their homes and transport to our regular Empowerment groups and other adhoc activities at agreed times
- Chat with members during their journey helping them to feel welcome and comfortable
- Where required, to escort members into the venue upon arrival
- To collect members at the agreed time and escort home again
Time commitment
Ideally, we are looking for individuals who can commit to supporting between one and four times a month.
Location
Covering an agreed area, your role will make an impact in your local community and as far as you are happy to travel. The Irvinestown group meet fortnightly on a Thursday morning from 10.30am until 12.30pm.
