Director - The Boys' Brigade Northern Ireland

The Boys’ Brigade in Northern Ireland is a voluntary sector youth organisation for children and young people with almost 300 groups, 3,000 volunteer leaders and 14,000 members. It has a Christian mission and works with most church denominations and youth sector agencies. The Boys’ Brigade in Northern Ireland provides a wide range of educational, sporting and development opportunities and is a Region of the Boys’ Brigade in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

The Role

Based at The Boys’ Brigade Head Office in Hillsborough, the Director will be equipped to promote and develop the Christian mission of The Boys’ Brigade in Northern Ireland.

The Director is responsible for all financial matters within the District.

Maintaining and developing relationships with Churches, government and partner agencies within the youth sector and beyond.

Ensuring all operational requirements are met at the Northern Ireland Headquarters, encouraging positive relationships between all members of the team with adequate and effective communication.

Essential Criteria

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience gained within the last 10 years at a Senior Manager or Director level based in similar organisation.
• 2+ years’ experience in preparation of budgets, projections and accounts, and knowledge of the process of application for statutory funding.
• The ability to demonstrate inspiring leadership including the effective communication with a wide range of people, including staff, leaders and members aged 4-19 years.
• Maintain links across the organisation in Northern Ireland and beyond, the Director must be prepared to travel widely and regularly work outside normal office hours.
• In view of significant changes taking place in The Boys’ Brigade in Northern Ireland, the successful applicant must be required to adapt to changes to this job description.

Desirable Experience

• A higher education qualification and/or professional qualification in administration or finance.
• Knowledge of The Boys’ Brigade and the wider youth sector Northern Ireland.

Salary

• Will be commensurate with experience.
  Arrangements regarding travel on business will be negotiated.
