Reporting to the Farm Support and Therapeutical Services Programme Manager, the Crisis Support Co-ordinator is a key role within the Farm Support and Therapeutical Services Department and will be responsible for the effective co-ordination of the Crisis Support Service at Rural Support.

The post-holder will work closely with the Farm Support and Therapeutical Services Programme Manager to develop the crisis services in the organisation in particular working with farming families to help them plan for and navigate crises situations and ensuring that programmes and services offered meet the specific needs of farming families across the age spectrum.

This will also include leading on the expansion of the range of emotional support services to include bereavement support and counselling/emotional support using a trauma-informed care and coaching model and assisting in embedding this approach into Rural Support’s operations.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Support Line management, administration and handling related cases.
  • Volunteer support and management
  • Mentoring (business, financial, technical).
  • Mentoring (emotional/counselling).
  • Life Beyond Bereavement Programme.

The role-holder will co-ordinate the delivery of these frontline delivery support services to ensure that we deliver the highest quality services to those we work with on a collaborative basis and for our service users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the Crisis Support Service for Rural Support including daily running of the helpline.
  • Manage and coordinate volunteers who are involved with the helpline mentoring and other programmes in the farm support crisis area.
  • Manage and co-ordinate mentors who are involved with the crisis mentoring programme.
  • Provide managerial and emotional supervision support for the mentors to support them with service delivery.
  • Support with counselling assessments when required.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the helpline and ensure best practice in service delivery.
  • Promote and enhance the profile of the Rural Support Helpline.
  • Plan, organise and deliver appropriate training and development for a team of mentors.
  • Develop and manage appropriate procedures for delivery of the Crisis Support Service including financial and business mentoring with referrals to other programmes as appropriate.
  • Work with the Farm Support and Therapeutical Services Programme Manager and other members of the Leadership Team to embed a culture of trauma- informed care into operations following a coaching model.
  • Liaise with clients to identify appropriate support and monitor progress.
  • Collate, monitor, report and analyse client data relating to the Crisis Support Service.
  • Provide regular quantitative and qualitative reports for the Crisis Support Service to funders.
  • Build and develop good working relationships with key stakeholders and referral agencies and develop appropriate referral pathways.
  • Represent Rural Support in relevant stakeholder forums where required.
  • To develop and maintain appropriate record keeping systems in compliance with all statutory requirements and statutory obligations.
  • To ensure timely updates and reports to the Chief Executive for Board and other meetings.
