This is a key role within the Constituency Office supporting MLA Constituency manager and other duties as detailed within the essential and desirable criteria. Full training and professional development will be provided.

This is a key role within the Constituency Office that requires tact with the public, casework management, social media management, supporting MLA Constituency manager and other duties as detailed within the essential and desirable criteria. Full training and professional development will be provided.

 

Key roles and responsibilities :

  • Providing general admin support (typing, emails, phone calls, distributing mail, filing, photocopying, etc.)
  • Assisting with MLA's diary management
  • Attending meetings/conferences as required
  • Managing and monitoring incoming calls and enquiries
  • Gathering relevant information to assist with resolving cases
  • Providing information/advice to constituents on range of issues
  • Drafting letters/correspondence
  • Identifying local community groups/key contacts
  • Managing and progressing portfolio of casework appropriately
  • Ensuring enquiries are dealt with sensitively and confidentially
  • Retaining records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 18 months community experience in UK or within EU
  • 5 GCSE or equivalent including English (grade C or above)
  • Demonstrable experience of working with Regional and Local Government and elected officials.
  • Communication skills (Oral/Written/Social Media)
  • Knowledge of current Northern Ireland legislative system and main regional government policies.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a customer related environment coupled with some experience of working with vulnerable adults.
  • IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office and Social Media.
  • The ability to have, or to be in possession of a current Enhanced Access NI
  • Right to work within UK

Desirable Criteria:

  • Full Driving license and the ability to work across constituency as required.
  • Experience of liaising with groups within the constituency and the general public.
  • Knowledge of the main issues effecting a constituency.
