The successful applicant will be providing administration support to Mr Gary Middleton MLA in his busy constituency office and in particular dealing with enquiries from members of the public.
Main Responsibilities will include:
- Providing general admin support (typing, emails, phone calls, distributing mail, filing, photocopying, etc.)
- Managing social media and preparing press releases
- Providing information/advice to constituents on a range of issues including Housing, Welfare, Health and local council queries.
- Managing and progressing portfolio of casework appropriately
- Ensuring enquiries are dealt with sensitively and confidentially
- Assisting in preparing for visits, events and meetings
- Attending training sessions as required
- Other duties as required in support of the MLA carrying out their Assembly duties
Essential Criteria
- Applicants must have 1 years minimum experience within a busy office environment
- Experience in providing general administrative support including typing, filing etc
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook/Emails etc
- Ability to work from own initiative and see tasks through to conclusion
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of GDPR
- Empathetic with a good understanding of dealing directly with the public
Desirable Criteria
- Good problem solving and communication skills
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
- Good knowledge of social media and preparing press releases
- Awareness of local and political issues within the constituency.
