As a Complimentary Therapist (Sessional) at Charis Cancer Care you will provide complementary therapies, such as reflexology and aromatherapy massage to support people who are dealing with the impact of cancer.

Charis Cancer Care is a highly regarded charity in NI, and we are here to support people, across NI, affected by cancer at every stage of their journey. We also assist and support the families and supporters of those living with cancer or any family member bereaved by cancer through a range of holistic and complementary therapies provided on-site at our cancer care centre near Cookstown. We are now seeking to recruit additional Complementary Therapists who can operate on a sessional basis. We are open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm and you need to be available for between 5 - 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • To practice (on a self-employed basis) with current and full indemnity insurance
  • To carry out body therapy treatments such as Reflexology and , Aromatherapy Massage
  • To be responsible for keeping accurate records on treatment(s) provided for the patient.
  • To keep all information about the patient and their treatment confidential in accordance with GDPR and professional code of conduct relevant to the therapies practiced.
  • To adhere to the Code of Professional Patient Care set out in Charis Cancer Care Procedures Service Handbook.
  • To ensure high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained in all patient access areas.
  • To take part in the writing of patient information relevant to therapies practiced
  • To take part in patient education seminars
  • To be responsible for keeping up to date with continuing professional development credits relevant to qualification.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Therapists should hold qualifications as a complementary therapist from an accredited training organisation in one or more of the following areas: massage, aromatherapy, reflexology and any other complementary modalities relevant to Cancer Care.
  • Together with evidence of further continuing professional development (CPD) the applicant must hold membership of an established and registered association in the therapy and hold full and current indemnity insurance.
  • Therapists must have been in consistent and supervised practice for a minimum of five years and be able to demonstrate continuing professional development credits relevant to their practice in cancer care.
  • Therapists will need to provide evidence that they hold a Macmillan Cancer Support certificate or equivalent.

Note: This role is offered on a Freelance, sessional basis and Therapists will be responsible for their own tax and national insurance obligations. Therapists will receive a fixed rate of £31 per session.

This role description is intended to provide a general overview of the position. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
