To work alongside the House team to carry out work on CMS, the National Trust’s inventory database, aiming to improve the quality of our CMS records, which detail the information about all the items in our collection.

By getting involved, you could

• • Gain valuable experience in the heritage sector, acquiring an understanding of the work of the National Trust
• • Acquire and develop skills, perhaps fitting around other responsibilities like university or work
• • Support varied projects helping out on conservation and research projects that will leave a lasting legacy at Florence Court
• • Gain practical experience in collections management and documentation
• • Join an enthusiastic and varied team and make some new friends

What's involved?

• • Learning how to use the Trust’s CMS (Collections manager System), where we hold all of the records about the items in our collections
• • Help the house team to do CMS tasks like annual audits of the collections, record when items have moved and help to inventory mark new items
• • See the collections at Florence Court up close and personal, and learn more about them than you ever thought possible!
• • Full training on all of these tasks will be given, and the volunteer team will always be supported by the house team

This role will suit you if you are...

• • Reliable, can work to deadlines and like to see projects through to the end
• • Happy and able to follow detailed instructions / processes
• • Patient, with good dexterity, spatial awareness and excellent hand/eye co-ordination
• • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail
• • Well organised, with good IT skills, particularly the Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• • Someone who likes being part of a team but can also work independently
• • Are able to work in quite cold conditions at times

Extra information

• We’ll help you get to know Florence Court, how you can help and how you will work with the rest of the team – with induction and training
• We provide equipment to help you do this role well and safely
• We’ll also cover agreed costs of your travel between home and Florence Court
