The NI Hospice are looking to seek a Clinical Fellow in Palliative Medicine

Clinical Fellow in Palliative Medicine

Sessions: 
Full time (part time will be considered, minimum 6 sessions/ job share may also be considered)

Location: 
Somerton House, Somerton Road, Belfast, BT15 3LH

Reports to: 
Consultants in Palliative Medicine

Responsible to: 
Medical Lead

Minimum Qualifications: 
Full registration with GMC and 1 years post registration experience

Date of Commencement:
5th February 2025

Salary: 
NHS Specialty Registrar pay scale 1-3 (core training) £38,780 - £44,283 per year (pro rata) (dependant on experience)

Contract:
Up to 6 months depending on start date
5th Feb 2025 to 5th August 2025.  No oncall until 6 May 2025, then 1 in 5 non resident on call (7 May- 5 August 2025, paid at 50% banding supplement).

A waiting list will be held for other short term positions that may become available

Interview date:
We anticipate that interviews will take place on 23rd January 2025

Who This Job is For:
The post will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience and skills in a supportive palliative care setting, for those considering a career in palliative medicine (either through speciality training or as a speciality doctor), allied medical specialties or general practice.  Though not a training post, opportunity for training will be available under the supervision of accredited palliative medicine consultants.  The post will provide excellent clinical experience, and time and support will be given for involvement in quality improvement work and teaching. 

The Role:
Northern Ireland Hospice is a charitable company (limited by guarantee).  The position will include responsibilities within adult inpatient care.  The role will be adapted to suit the skills and experience of the post holder.  The role is supported by a strong multidisciplinary team including nurses, AHP’s, chaplaincy and social work.  The post-holder will join the existing team of Consultants in Palliative Medicine (4), 3 hospice speciality doctors, 1 specialty trainee and 1 Internal Medical Trainee.
