Safe Choices NI works with children and young people affected by child sexual exploitation (CSE). The role of the intern would be in relation to the training aspect of our work. Internships are a great way to gain work experience within the charity sector
Safe Choices NI works with children and young people affected by child sexual exploitation (CSE) and the associated risks of going missing from home/care. The remit of our service is three-fold:
1: Direct therapeutic work with children/young people affected by CSE
2: Delivering of training programmes to professionals/carers on the issue of CSE
3: Provision of consultation to professionals.
The role of the intern would be in relation to the training aspect of our work. Every training session is evaluated by participants using a form which measures their level of knowledge before and after the training. These evaluations are reviewed by the trainers and the manager, and are filed within the service. The intern’s role would involve setting up a system that would record the content of the evaluations and produce reports from it.
The intern would be very much welcomed as part of the Safe Choices team and supported as part of it, both formally and informally. The intern will:
· Attend the training provided by the service to professionals/carers
· Review the existing evaluation form/s
· Devise a system that will record this content (either on Excel or SPSS) and be able to produce reports
· Work with the service manager to agree what kind of reports will be beneficial, i.e. reports to beneficiary agencies and/or commissioners.
· Monitor the system to ensure its effectiveness
· Create an action plan based on the monitoring procedure
