Job Title: Care Assistant (Days & Nights)

Location: Sunnyside House, 25 Riverwood Vale, Donaghadee Road,

Bangor,BT20 4QE

Salary Scale: £11.63 per hour (no NVQ)

£11.69 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care

£11.73 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care

Hours: Full and part time hours available

Responsible to: Home Manager

MAIN FUNCTION OF JOB

To provide care and support for residents within the Christian ethos and aims of Sunnyside House.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Sunnyside House is one of 6 homes for older people run by the Council for Social Witness (Older People Services) and is situated at 25 Riverwood Vale, High Donaghadee Road, Bangor. The Home accommodates 45 residents who have a variety of physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs and varying levels of dependency.

The Home operates a No Smoking Policy.

CRITERIA

QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people;
  • Willing to undertake appropriate training as required;
  • Awareness of health and safety practices within a working environment;
  • Proficiency in understanding, communicating and writing in English to level required by the duties of the post;
  • Basic numeracy required by the duties of the post (as endorsed by appropriate qualification or use of numeracy skills in a work or home environment).

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Essential

  • Be willing to work flexibly to fulfil the requirements of the Home, including working additional hours if required
  • Must be willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland
  • Registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council within 6 months of appointment is a requirement of this position.
