Job Title: Care Assistant (Days & Nights)
Location: Lawnfield House, 5 King Street, Newcastle, BT33 0HD
Salary Scale: £11.63 per hour (no NVQ)
£11.69 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care
£11.73 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care
Hours: Post 1: 37 hours (days)
Post 2: 24.66 hours (days)
Post 3: 24 hours (nights)
Responsible to: Head of Home
MAIN FUNCTION OF JOB
To be responsible, through management and staff leadership, for promoting and ensuring the highest standards of care, in compliance with statutory requirements to meet the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of the residents with Lawnfield House.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Lawnfield House is registered with the RQIA to provide residential respite care for up to 20 residents who have a learning disability; physical disability; sensory impairment or is an older person.
The Home operates a No Smoking Policy.
CRITERIA
QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people or those with learning and physical disabilities
- Willing to undertake appropriate training as required; eg induction training, or NVQ/QCF level 2
- Awareness of health and safety practices within a working environment;
- Proficiency in understanding, communicating and writing in English to level required by the duties of the post;
- Basic numeracy required by the duties of the post (as endorsed by appropriate qualification or use of numeracy skills in a work or home environment).
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
Essential
- Be willing to work flexibly to fulfil the requirements of the Home, including working additional hours if required;
- Must be willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland;
- Registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council within 6 months of appointment is a requirement of this position.
