Adopt NI is seeking experienced individuals to join its Board of Directors. We are seeking Board members who want to be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of the organisation.

 

About Adopt NI:

Adopt NI is an independent registered charity established in 1989.  Our main priority is to support any adult impacted by the lifelong journey of adoption. Based in Belfast, we work on a regional basis and offer a range of confidential support, advocacy, counselling, private tracing and intermediary services.  We frequently deal with enquiries from individuals and organisations in South of Ireland, mainland UK and farther afield like Australia and America; indeed anywhere where people have a link to Northern Ireland. Adopt NI support individuals impacted by Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries, Workhouses and their Pathways and Practices in Northern Ireland.

Our Vision: To change lives by empowering adults in adoption and care.

Our Purpose: To provide greater access to information and be the voice for all adults affected by adoption or care.

Board members are expected to attend four board meetings per year, with one or two additional at present as we are in a planning phase of our work.

We are particularly looking for individuals who can offer skills or experience in any of the following areas:

 

  • Legal experience
  • HR experience
  • Fundraising experience
  • Charity sector / law and regulation
  • Finance and fund accounting
  • Clinical governance
