We wish to recruit individuals to serve on Homeless Connect’s Board of Directors. We invite applications from those individuals who have skills in one or more of the following areas: IT/Digital, Fundraising, Environmental/ Sustainability, Business, Risk Management (Note: These positions are non-executive and unremunerated).

Homeless Connect was founded in 1983 to represent organisations working with people experiencing homelessness.

Our purpose & mission

Homeless Connect’s vision is to see an end to homelessness in Northern Ireland.  We exist to prevent and alleviate homelessness in Northern Ireland.  We do this by working collaboratively to create a community of support, by being the voice of the sector and by delivering direct assistance through our projects.

As well as being a representative organisation Homeless Connect also runs the following projects:

FareShare NI

FareShare NI is part of the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors and the largest food redistribution organisation in Northern Ireland.  We take good quality surplus food from across the food industry and supply it to 164 frontline charities, schools, and community groups.

Home Starter Pack

The Home Starter Pack Project is designed to help make the transition from homelessness to more settled accommodation easier.  Recognising that after a period of homelessness, people have lost many if not all their material possessions. Organisations can support individuals by ordering packs to help with this transition.

Lived Experience

People with lived experience have unique insights into what works and what doesn’t.   Our aim is to ensure these voices are heard. In 2022, we appointed a Lived Experience Co-ordinator for homelessness, to help us to make connections with people who have used and are currently using homelessness services. We have facilitated meetings attended by the Housing Executive and senior policymakers that have resulted in important and practical changes being implemented.

Frontline Network

The Northern Ireland Frontline Network supports workers from the public, statutory and voluntary sectors working on the frontline with those experiencing homelessness.  The network is led by the ideas and expertise of those on the frontline, finding ways to support them and their work. As part of that, it offers funding, networking, and resources.

To apply please submit your CV and a cover letter (contact details below) outlining why you are interested and what skills and experience you feel you could bring to the role.
