Duration: Permanent (subject to Brian Kingston remaining as an MLA)
Location: Working from Constituency Office within North Belfast,
currently at 236a Ballysillan Road, Belfast BT14 6QZ
The successful applicant will support Brian Kingston MLA in delivering a first-class constituency service in North Belfast, with a particular focus on outreach, as part of a busy team

JOB DESCRIPTION
• Undertaking outreach constituency work, visiting community venues and calling with residents at their own homes to promote our Constituency Office service and to ascertain matters of concern;
• Gathering relevant information to assist Constituency Office staff in following up matters raised;
• Assisting residents to be on the Electoral Register and to be able to vote;
• Providing basic information / advice to constituents on a range of issues including housing, environment, health and education;
• Ensuring enquiries are dealt with sensitively and confidentially in line with the GDPR (2018)
• Assisting with delivery of circulars and newsheets;
• Assisting in Constituency Office on occasions, receiving incoming calls and enquiries;
• Other duties as required in support of the MLA carrying out their Assembly duties
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION
Essential Criteria:
• Third level degree OR 2 years minimum relevant experience
• A high standard of verbal and written communication skills
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Desirable Criteria:
• Experience in engagement and information-gathering with the public, including door-to-door work;
• Knowledge of services / responsibilities of government departments and agencies in Northern Ireland, including housing, environment and health;
• Experience within a political environment would be advantageous;
• Willing to be flexible in terms of working hours, as occasional out of hours work, including Saturday mornings, may be required.
