Activity Volunteer - Choir

Activities run by Parkinson's UK ensure that people with Parkinson's have access to the things that they want and need to take control.

We are currently looking for a volunteer to assist with the Parsonik Choir. This would be a great volunteer role for someone interested in music.

As an activity volunteer, you may do any of the following relating to Parsonik Choir for Parkinson's UK in Belfast:

• To actively advertise the choir through promotional materials and social media
• You will be present at required sessions to be a point of contact for the people with Parkinson's that are attending and to support any other volunteers.
• To act as a liaison between the musical director, Jonny McGeown and Parkinson’s UK Area Development Manager
• To email communications to choir members on behalf of the musical director
• To distribute learning materials via email, including rehearsal tracks and lyrics files

In order to fulfil this role, you will:

• have excellent communication skills and a friendly attitude
• be motivated and reliable, with strong organisational skills
• knowledge of social media and IT skills to promote choir
• access to a computer and experience of using email and office software
• be willing to listen and respond tactfully to the views and feedback of others, ensuring that it is shared with Parkinson's UK staff when appropriate 
• be able to share and uphold the vision and values of Parkinson's UK
• either have knowledge of Parkinson's, or a willingness to learn more about it

As an activity volunteer for the choir, you will:

• gain considerably from meeting new people and forging friendships and connections in your area
• enable those affected by Parkinson's to access support in their area
• gain experience in the activity that you are providing working alongside the musical director
• do something useful and meaningful for your community
• learn about the work of a major health charity, and be an important part of the wider Parkinson's UK network
