ACRE (Active Communities Restoring The Earth): Communities Environmental Advisor
Dialogue For Diversity

ACRE (Active Communities Restoring the Earth), a project of Dialogue For Diversity, is now recruiting a Communities Environmental Advisor who will work with community groups throughout N. Ireland to educate, support and encourage them in the development of positive climate and bio-diversity projects.
DUTIES OF THE POST
1. To work with local community groups and schools throughout N. Ireland to deliver educational courses on climate.
2. To work with other staff and volunteers to carry out any other duties required for the effective operation of the Project.
3. To put together regular communications materials such as press releases, website information, social media updates, etc., relating to the Project.
4. To monitor project success by recording engagement numbers, gathering feedback, monitoring budgets and writing evaluation reports.
5. To further develop the project by identifying and applying for funding for the project for both programme and core running costs including salary costs.
6. To help facilitate and take part in Project Management Committee meetings.
7. To be an ambassador for ACRE at meetings, youth groups and events.
8. Help to educate wider local communities in the values of seminal documents from leading religious and secular climate groups..
9. To use social media and internet tools to educate local communities and schools about climate issues.
10. To introduce various reports and papers on Climate change and to help educate wider local communities on their contents.
11. To develop local community climate and bio-diversity project management groups.
12, Liaise with representatives of relevant statutory, voluntary, academic and regulatory bodies to progress the Project to achieve its full potential.
13. When and as appropriate, enable and support communities to lobby government, academic/research institutions, political parties, business, churches and other relevant groups to assist positive climate and bio-diversity change.
14. To help local schools in marginalised areas to develop positive climate and bio-diversity projects.
15. Assist local groups and schools to work on a cross-community basis to deliver positive climate change.
16. To work with local community groups and schools who take on courses to develop their own local climate projects.
Project Management

Achieve project deliverables on time and within budget.

Build relationships with key stakeholders - internal and external.

Manage resources allocated for project delivery

Ensure key activities and impacts of the project work are promoted both internally and externally

Ensure all funding requirements are met including timely submission of progress reports and claims.

Ensure Health and Safety and other policies, procedures and guidelines are adhered to at all times.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
As ACRE comes under the umbrella of Dialogue for Diversity organisation, the successful candidate will be required to support the overall development and delivery of the organisation’s aims. These include:

Support the development and implementation of Dialogue For Diversity’s overall strategy and operational plan.

Play a proactive and positive role in Dialogue For Diversity’s team.

Develop strategic partnerships with other organisations.

Support the fundraising activities of the organisation.
-
Recruit, co-operate with and support volunteers and where appropriate supervise them.

Participate in staff meetings.

Ensure that contact with others is of a style and quality consistent with the ACRE Project ethos.

Respond to internal and external requests for advice and information
No job description can cover every issue which may arise and subsequently the post-holder may be expected to carry out other duties broadly consistent with those itemised above.

While our main office is in Armagh, we also have office space in Newtownabbey.
We are open to working with community groups in any part of N. Ireland.
