This skilled level course will provide you with the ability to identify when an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) is appropriate. It will explain the IVA procedures and enable you to make appropriate referrals to Insolvency Practitioners.
Course Objectives
- Define an Individual Voluntary Agreement (IVA)
- Identify when an IVA may be appropriate
- Explain the effects, advantages and disadvantages of an IVA
- Make appropriate referrals to Insolvency Practitioners for IVAs
- Describe the procedures of obtaining an IVA
- Describe the effect of completion of an IVA
- Explain alternatives to an IVA
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
Prerequisites
Completion of the Introduction to Providing Debt Advice Course (or equivalent) is required as a pre-requisite for this course.

CPD
This course is worth 2 CPD Points under the IMA Money and Pension Service (MaPS) Scheme. It is also worth 3 CPD points under the NIAQS (Northern Ireland Advice Quality Standard).
