This skilled level course will provide you with a basic step by step overview to bankruptcy legislation in Northern Ireland. It will enable you to identify when a bankruptcy is appropriate. This is a core course for those seeking Money and Pension Service (MaPS) accreditation at Advice Work or above.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Understand the terminology for bankruptcy
- Identify when bankruptcy may be appropriate and explain the consequences
- Identify statutory demand and creditor petition
- Assist client with completion self petition bankruptcy forms
- Know where a bankruptcy petition is heard
- Understand the role of the official receiver
- Understand the duties of a bankrupt
- Understand and explain how bankruptcy affects the individual
- Identify assets that will be considered in bankruptcy
- Explain restrictions under bankruptcy
- Explain what happens after discharge
